ABOUT IPBME

IPBME is a PhD program, established in 2016, under the College of Biomedical Engineering, Taipei Medical University.


The Dean of CBME, Prof. Jiunn-Horng Kang is a rehabilitation physician. As such, CBME strives to maintain clinical relevance and close links with patients. The IPBME Director, Prof. Tsung-Rong Kuo, is Taiwanese and the IPBME administrative teacher, Asst. Prof. David Lundy, is originally from the United Kingdom. Our faculty also includes Dr. Anup Pandith from India and Dr. Lucas Lane from the USA. As such, IPBME has a strong international focus.

ABOUT CBME

The College of Biomedical Engineering was formed in August 2015 following a merger of other colleges. [CBME currently has 26 professors] specialising in a broad range of research disciplines including Tissue Engineering and Biomaterials, Medical Devices, Implants and Instrumentation, Nanomedicine, Drug Delivery, Regenerative Medicine and others.


The goal of CBME is to educate our students into trained biomedical engineers and medical professionals so that they may be able to serve in the healthcare and biotechnology industry with an understanding of clinical needs. CBME promotes globalisation, clinical translation and industrial collaboration for a multidisciplinary task force to promote the welfare of human beings.

ABOUT TMU

TMU is a private university which was founded in 1960. It has grown to have 11 academic colleges with 6,000 students per year. As part of TMU healthcare system, TMU has 6 affiliated hospitals, and clinical research is highly encouraged. 


This rapid growth is continuing, including a new Cancer Centre (opening 2020) and Shang-Ho Biotech Park (opening 2021).
